HAVE A PEACEFUL AND JOYOUS SONGKRAN
Today is a beautiful day for one to really go out and celebrate, don't you think cat-money, I don't think so, what do you mean, today is a holiday and people are celebrating. That's them, songkran is not for me, you know cat-money I really don't understand you, I mean what exactly do you celebrate?
Well the truth is I have nothing to celebrate because I don't believe in all these so called holy days
Do you mean to say holidays? No I mean holy days. What is so special about this particular day?
Well to start with the weather is nice and sunny, it is also a day of rest for some and for others a day to relax with family members and the young honour their elders according to traditions
Am surprise that a good Christian like you is also celebrating songkran , but why are you joining them to celebrate it.? Oh my friend cat-money, how I wish that just for a day you could come to my island and see what life is really worth. But let me just ask you this again, because I know we have been through it before. What do you believe in? I mean like in religion, faith, way of life, path of life and heroes and mentors? Well buddy you know for sure that I don't belief in any thing, take this your songkran for example, is it not just another day to get drunk, abuse women and children and promote paganism? You all make excuses by hiding under the umbrella of religion, look let's be real here, I really want to know why you of all Christians is celebrating songkran.
Ok, I guess I owe you the truth, but first I want you to know that as a good Christian I do celebrate Christmas and Easter holidays. And my friends who are not Christian do join me during these holidays to celebrate. And when they come we eat, sing, dance and I educate them about Jesus Christ as a child and as my Saviour. Now with songkran when I mix and celebrate, we eat, and play with water and we all go back home happy.
But you refuse to come to my house or church at Christmas and on Easter, because to you Christianity is just like any of these man made religion. Here again today people are out having clean good fun in the name of Songkran and you see it as a day of passing judgment and condemnation.
But, I am wondering is it because you are alive and healthy that gives you the right to call a day that God almighty has made beautiful for all those alive to celebrate a day of paganism?, be careful my friend. You may claim to other people that you don't believe in any thing or in the existence of a supreme God, I know you buddy and I understand that your so called theory of life is based upon fears of been rejected by tradition.
I am glad you agree with me that most of you are just follow-follow people in all these your so called holiday celebration.
What do you mean cat-money? Well I am saying that most people just like following the crowd, like some of my friend who goes to church just to please their parents and many claim to be religious just to please those around them. But you see buddy am no pretender nor am I a hypocrite, I don't go to the church, I don't visit the mosque, nor do I go to any temple, because I know for sure that if I live my life correct and be good and kind to people, I think any God would understand that, better than all of you dressing up in costumes and making sacrifices.
This is my view of life and I am calling it like I see them. I know your Jesus Christ is real but show me the money first buddy, for if I have enough money, I can afford the best doctors when am sick, then I can create my own days of rest, just may be then your holidays will start to make any sense, because I can celebrate any thing I like with those around me at my own pace.
Little wonder they call you Cat-money, but let's see where this your life theory ends because you know for most people religion is like money, which is never enough even for those you think has plenty just because it is the duty of human to relate to their creator.
But take you for example, you bear the name cat- money because you think that you are fast and smart and with these quality making plenty of money should be easy but at 38 you are still not considered rich among the well to do in life, and the troubling fact is that there exist these two evil in your life which are, you hate people who are happy and you dislike those who are honestly saying that living sometimes is not easy and so they want someone or something greater than them to intervene in their life and help make living from day to day simple.
Cat-money if your entire life is wasting in the pursuit of accumulating wealth just to live right and do good, I guess my question then would be to whom do you wish to do these so called good?.
What do you mean? Last Friday you saw me at the hospital visiting that sick colleague, but how many of this religious friend did you see there? And what about when Pauloo was dying of A.I.D.S is it not just you and I the only friends that showed up at the hospital
Ok, that's an interesting angle to see things from, but today your colleague is out of the hospital and those who didn't come to the hospital to see him then have all proposed to come to his house to celebrate the songkran, and don't you think for a minute they will miss not having you around. Yes, they may but it is not my concern because most of them already know that I don't celebrate any holidays.
Cat- money are you saying that you will be with your friends only when they are suffering in sickness and in pain, but if they are healthy and celebrating the fact that they are alive you don't care
Are you telling me that your reason for going to the hospital is because Pauloo is dying and you attend funerals just to say good-bye to a person you really never bothered sharing any of their happy moments in life knowing fully well that for some, these days are few. What a hypocrite you are!
You see this is exactly what our lord Jesus Christ is saying that we Christians should beware of “I know myself” kind of people like yourself, always claiming that you know what doing good and living right is all about but when it boils down to putting it to practice you are just like white washed tombs, beautiful on the outside. Now I see you don't celebrate holidays because you think that you are so pure and holy, than the rest of humanity.
Thank you once again for helping in reminding me that Jesus Christ teaching is not just for Christians but to all people because as I was talking with you, this bible passage that I have been trying to understand just became clearer, you see Jesus Christ commands Christians to “ rejoice with those who are celebrating and mourn with those who are crying,”
You know cat- money for a minute I was wrestling with your question, why a good Christian like me is joining in the celebration of songkran?
Well that's the answer to your question, but let me explain it with my own little understanding, of the bible and how it applies to any person in any country, but please don't quote me wrong for I am not saying that when you are in Rome behave like the Romans
In my candid opinion I think applying Jesus Christ teaching would be for me as a Christian to be open and sensitive when it comes to sharing in my neighbor's joy and sorrow, of which songkran is to many a joyous occasion, it would also be a good chance to get to know what my friends believe in and why they choose to believe in it, And finally I can share my own belief
Cat- money, good Christians don't only celebrate with Christians? But rather they rejoice with humanity and come to think of it, if I don't really celebrate with non Christians, what will I be doing that is so different from all those religious people whom you complained about, and how would they know that I am not like you who refuse to believe in realty. But let's see why Jesus Christ teaching is beyond any religion, but applicable to any person facing these same situation any where, I am sure that if this has not happened to you, it must have happen to your love one, but just imagine if this is your friend in this picture “[Christian bible the book of Luke 10:25-37]”

You see Christianity is about love and celebration; 5:20 “For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.'' [ Matthew5:20]
Jesus said in the book of [Matthew 5:43 Love Your Enemies] :
"You have heard that it was said, "You shall love your friends and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Why should God reward you, if you love only the people who love you even the tax collectors do the same and if you speak to your friends only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Most caring parent wants the best for their child, and their family but who's their mentor and the best example of this true love that they are expecting if Jesus Christ unconditional love is not made the center of emulation
